सितंबर 2026 में AI और Mathematics की दुनिया में ऐसा ही एक बड़ा दावा सामने आया। OpenAI ने कहा कि उसके एक internal AI system ने Navier–Stokes Existence and Smoothness Problem का solution तैयार किया है।
यह problem दुनिया की सबसे कठिन mathematical problems में से एक है और Clay Mathematics Institute के सात Millennium Prize Problems में शामिल है। OpenAI के अनुसार उसके system ने एक analytical proof तैयार किया और उसका Lean formalization भी किया गया।
यह कहना technically सही नहीं होगा कि "ChatGPT ने अकेले Navier-Stokes problem solve कर दी।" OpenAI के अनुसार इस काम के लिए इस्तेमाल किया गया internal model उस समय के GPT-6 Astra से भी significantly अधिक capable था और इसे coordinating AI agents तथा mathematical/computational tools के साथ इस्तेमाल किया गया।
तो आखिर Navier-Stokes problem क्या है और AI ने इसमें क्या किया? — आइए आसान भाषा में समझते हैं।
Navier-Stokes Equation क्या है?
अगर आपने कभी पानी का बहाव देखा है, हवा का movement देखा है या किसी नदी में पानी को घूमते हुए देखा है, तो आपने असल में fluid dynamics का हिस्सा देखा है।
Navier-Stokes equations उन mathematical equations में से हैं जिनका इस्तेमाल fluids के motion को describe करने के लिए किया जाता है। Fluid का मतलब केवल पानी नहीं है। इसमें शामिल हो सकते हैं: Water, Air, Blood, Oil, Gas, Atmospheric fluids।
इन equations का उपयोग aircraft design, weather modelling, blood-flow analysis और engineering जैसी fields में किया जाता है। सरल शब्दों में: Navier-Stokes equations हमें बताती हैं कि fluid कैसे move करता है।
असली Problem क्या थी?
यहां mathematics बहुत interesting हो जाती है। Scientists और mathematicians equations को लिख सकते हैं और कई situations में उनके solutions भी निकाल सकते हैं। लेकिन एक fundamental question लंबे समय से unanswered था:

8 सितंबर 2026 को OpenAI ने एक research publication जारी करके कहा कि उसके internal AI system ने Navier-Stokes problem के लिए एक analytical proof तैयार किया है।
OpenAI के अनुसार proof यह दिखाता है कि कुछ परिस्थितियों में initially smooth fluid motion finite time में singularity develop कर सकता है। यानी mathematical language में system ने यह establish करने का दावा किया कि Navier-Stokes dynamics किस तरह breakdown कर सकती हैं।
AI ने वास्तव में क्या खोजा?
OpenAI के अनुसार solution का central structure एक vortex यानी घूमते हुए fluid structure पर आधारित है। इसे आसान भाषा में ऐसे समझ सकते हैं: कल्पना कीजिए कि fluid का एक छोटा हिस्सा spiral की तरह घूम रहा है।

यह सबसे common confusion है।
Short Answer: सीधे तौर पर नहीं। अगर कोई headline लिखती है: "ChatGPT solved the Navier-Stokes problem." तो यह oversimplification होगा।
